Senior Commercial Operations Manager

Are you looking for a challenging new Commercial Operations opportunity? We are looking for great people who can help us redefine what's possible for our Passenger Operations & Services department.

What is the role?

Passenger Operations & Services provide the operational delivery of key elements of the passenger journey and the commercial & operational management of a variety of service contracts.

The Senior Commercial Operations Manager will lead the team that manage c£40m of those contracts and over 700 3rd party staff, that deliver key services at Gatwick Airport. You will have a central role in ensuring effective delivery of the contracted service and identifying and delivering productivity initiatives across the portfolio of cleaning, special assistance, logistics and waste contracts. The Senior Commercial Operations Manager will be pivotal in engaging across the business and at board level to develop and align strategy from service procurement to operational delivery.

 What will you do?

  • Responsible for developing and managing the commercial operations strategy and vision in order to ensure delivery of cost effective third party service.
  • Working with Procurement to develop the service delivery strategy, and negotiate contracts with suppliers to ensure that service, quality, financial performance and surety of supply are secured.
  • Accountable for stakeholder management across the function (including government and regulatory) in order to ensure a common understanding of service, commercials and performance.
  • Identifies and executes future commercial and productivity opportunities to drive cost/service benefits.
  • Develop and improve existingcontracts providing clear direction to enable safe, efficient, effective and resilient operations that deliver excellent passenger service.
  • Accountable for the commercial operations Decade of Change sustainability objectives.
  • Effectively leveraging the Leadership framework to motivate, coach and mentor staff within the team.  Recognise talent and assist in the development of those with high potential.

  Do you have what we're looking for?

  • Significant commercial acumen (informed by significant commercial experience & knowledge)
  • Strong knowledge of airport operations and service contracts within an airport environment
  • An advanced knowledge of analytical techniques and the ability to handle large amounts of quantitative data
  • Ability to influence and communicate operational & commercial business issues effectively
  • Ability to develop novel approaches to existing process and procedure to drive change
  • Ability to develop and deliver change management and continuous improvement
  • The ability to establish and develop critical relationships across multiple stakeholders within the airport operation
  • Strong planning and communication skills
  • Ability to work to a high-performance standard, and act with pace and energy
