CATERING ASSISTANT
Required to start on 3 January 2023 or as soon as possible after this date
Permanent, Part-time (15 hours per week) and Term Time Only (TTO)
We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible and dedicated team member, who is able to work with initiative in a fast moving and demanding environment, within our busy catering team. You will be responsible for hot and cold food preparation, taking both card and cash payments, serving customers, and cleaning within all areas of the kitchen.
The successful candidate will report to the Catering manager, and work alongside three other Catering Assistants and the Kitchen Porter.
There will be opportunities for you to undertake individual training and development, which is encouraged through the college induction and staff development programmes.
This is a permanent post, working 15 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time, September to July, plus 1 day pro-rata to be worked in the holidays). You will be required to work from 9.30am until 12.30pm Monday to Friday.
You will be entitled to 5.6 weeks of holiday pay per year, which is paid in addition to your contracted 39 weeks. 5.2 weeks of holiday pay is included in your salary in twelve equal payments and an additional 0.4 weeks holiday pay will be paid to you in the December payroll each year.
The pro-rata salary for this post is £6,900 per annum, which includes 5.2 weeks of holiday pay. This is based on spine point 3 within grade 1 of the support staff pay spine, for which the full-time salary is £20,025 per annum. This will increase annually up to £7,040 (based on a full-time salary of £20,430 per annum) subject to satisfactory performance.

About 50% of our students come from Brighton and Hove, but many come from other state and independent schools throughout Sussex. The same variety of backgrounds, cultures and interests that make the Brighton area unique, also makes the College a lively, stimulating place to work.
