Senior Planner

Are you looking for a challenging new Senior Planner opportunity ? We are looking for great people who can help us redefine what's possible for our Capital Delivery team.

As part of our 'Grow with Gatwick' initiative you'll be provided with the necessary development to ensure you're able to Grow with Gatwick.

To support our growth the construction team is expanding. The Construction Department comprises several programme and project teams, along with technical support functions and is accountable for the delivery of the airport CIP and strategic growth over the next 5 years, encompassing projects across the campus to deliver fit for purpose critical infrastructure

What is the role?

The Senior Planner will play a key role in Gatwick's future, providing a full planning service for all assigned projects. The Senior Planner will manage schedule development, maintenance, monitoring, and recovery plan development activities. In addition the planner will provide technical support and guidance including Work Breakdown Structure, Cost Breakdown Structure and Resource Loading. The Senior Planner will have responsibility for major or more complex projects (typically above £20m).

What will you do?

Develop and maintain robust delivery schedule for work activities with clear milestones and monitoring activities to support the project schedule including interdisciplinary constraints or interfaces that define activity sequences. Work with delivery team to coordinate work sequences with the total project plan (programme integrated schedule).

Perform schedule monitoring, including identifying critical activities and updating functions for specific applications, disciplines, or specialties. Assist the development and implementation requirements for updating and monitoring the schedule.

Develop and apply installation rates to quantity takeoffs and developed quantities for assigned projects. Review and analyse the contractor's schedules submitted for acceptance and provide the required recommendation to the project team.

Evaluate quantities, job hours/staffing, and schedule logic for a specific discipline or specialty. Prepare schedule, staffing, and quantity progress and performance reports for assigned disciplines or specialties.

Manage contract programme assessment and acceptance/rejection, assessing compensation events and performing delay analysis.

Review quantity logs to ensure total quantities are represented for assigned projects. Assists in the development of the required job hour expenditure for assigned projects.

Review and analyse contractor's schedules against the GAL baseline, identifying critical path activities and performance variance.

Perform supervisory role to Planners within the wider programme team.

Do you have what we are looking for?
  • Educated to Degree/Post-Grad level or equivalent in construction or business related field.
  • Experience (typically associated with five years' experience) as a planner on projects with a value typically in excess of £20m.
  • Significant experience with Primavera software (P6) and MS Excel.
  • Experience in planning infrastructure projects in a live operational environment desirable.
  • Experience in performing quantity takeoffs, statistical analysis, and computer operations.
  • Understanding of engineering, procurement, contracts, construction, and start-up work processes.
  • Understanding of mathematical and financial reports.
  • Understanding of NEC types of contract
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Awareness of airport environment desirable.
  • Personal resilience and the ability to operate within ambiguity
