Job summary

We are looking for a Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist to join our School Age and Early Years SLT Teams. You will be working with children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs in local clinics, nurseries and schools. This post is suitable for both a newly qualified or experienced Band 5 Speech and Language Therapist. We have sessions available in community clinic, mainstream schools and complex needs schools. We would look to shape the post to the skills and experience of the successful applicant.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Speech and Language Therapist who will be able to work independently and as part of a team. The ideal candidate should demonstrate excellent communication skills and confidence in working flexibly, managing a caseload of pre-school and school age children with a range of speech, language and communication needs with support as appropriate to their experience.

There may be funds available to support relocation to Brighton and Hove, if the successful candidate lives elsewhere in the UK.

Main duties of the job

To assess, treat and manage own caseload of children with speech, language and communication difficulties.

To provide advice to other professionals and parents in order to support the needs of children with speech, language and communication delay and disorder in clinical area.

To liaise with other agencies and services e.g. schools, social care, and voluntary agencies.

To plan and demonstrate therapy activities to parents/carers and/or assistants and multidisciplinary staff.

About us

You will be supported by senior Speech and Language Therapists who work at the same NHS base. We have Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapists working with preschool community clinics, mainstream schools, preschool & school age complex needs, preschool and school-age ASD, fluency and hearing impairment. They are available to provide advice, training and second opinions. We have regular team meetings and a range of clinical meetings including early years and school age clinical forums, journal club, bilingualism, AAC and research. There is excellent administrative support, good opportunities for continuing professional development both internal and external to the Trust and access to excellent resources. The service is also supported by a Professional Lead for Children's Speech and Language Therapy.
