Band 5

Job summary Do you want to work in an inspiring service for children, young people and families across West Sussex. Are you hard working, dynamic and forward thinking? If the answer is yes, we would love to hear from you!

Do you feel you have the skills and knowledge to screen, assess, monitor and advise families who are seeking support for their children who are struggling with neuro-divergence?

The NDP team is a new pathway designed to assess the local needs of young people presenting with ADHD and ASC symptoms.

This is an exciting time to be joining NDP and we are looking for a committed and enthusiastic clinician who is passionate about working with young people and their families.

We are currently looking to recruit a fixed-term band 5 mental health practitioner to work in NDP supporting the assessment and monitoring of children diagnosed with ADHD/ASC. The successful candidate will be a registered health professional.

Alternatively, we would consider offering this role as a secondment position. This would make it ideal for someone who would like some band 5 experience in this field.

As a fixed-term or secondment this position would end on 31st January 2024. Main duties of the job What the role involves

Within the NDP team we receive referrals direct into the service. Following our pathway model, we screen, assess, diagnose and medicate those who experience ADHD. For those young people with ASC we assess, diagnose and signpost those with ASC to local services which provide support and advice in this area.

As band 5 NDP mental health practitioner you will work within an MDT reviewing a case load of young people with ADHD diagnosis. This will include monitoring the effectiveness of medication, changes in mental health presentation, physical observations and responding to clinical concerns or escalation of ADHD driven behaviours raised by other agencies or the families themselves. Within your role you will have access to the MDT to discuss clinical issues including medical advice with a doctor.

The role will also include assessing, reviewing risk and care planning for the young people who use our service.

The team is proud of the difference we make to families lives. As a high demand service we are also looking for someone who is organised and good at prioritising work-loads based on presenting needs and risk whilst focussing at all times on the quality of care we provide in a person-centred way. About us What are we looking for?
  • Experience of working with young people and families
  • Understanding of health care governance appropriate to the role and to work collaboratively with the team
  • An ability to maintain minimum clinical standards at all times
  • High quality record keeping including ensuring records are up-to-date and entered within 24 hours
  • To work well within a team whilst having the confidence to work autonomously
  • Good organisational and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication skills

What will we offer in return?

In return, we can offer you a flexible and accommodating working environment.

A robust comprehensive induction.

The team is based within the stunning West Sussex countryside, though we deliver care from multiple sites. Your specific area of coverage will be Worthing where we mainly work out of the local hospital.

Our main administrative base is based in Horsham.

We care about and are committed to the quality of the care we provide. We also take care of our team members to support their own wellbeing. We offer flexible working hours; training opportunities and all team members can involve themselves in projects outside of their day to day roles.

Beyond the professional advantages of this role, you will have the benefit of living and working in an attractive part of the country and working with a high performing and innovative team.
