Job summary We are seeking to recruit a passionate, experienced, and dynamic Band 7 Preceptorship Psychologist to join our well-established Multi-agency and Integrated Service between East Sussex Children Services and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation trust. As a Preceptor Psychologist working for SWIFT you will complete complex cognitive/ psychological assessments and bespoke interventions to parents whose children are open to child protection/ care proceedings for East Sussex Children Services. Should the post holder meet their competency targets then the transition to the next banding can be made, typically this would probably be between 18 months and 2 years. You will be joining a friendly, supportive and creative psychology team within a multi-agency team, dedicated to providing a high-quality service which complements the work done by Children Services in liaison/partnership with other key agencies. Our core business includes assessing parents mental health, including attention to risk management and care planning, and working with families and the wider systems that support families. Main duties of the job
  • To provide a qualified, high-quality specialist psychology service to individuals, carers, families and groups, within and across teams, in line with best, evidence-based practice and trust care pathways.
  • To be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload and to exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the planning and prioritising of own workload and the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients, within the bounds of the service operational policy.
  • To use analytical and judgement skills and be responsible for taking clinical management decisions in complex clinical issues.
  • To clinically supervise assistant psychologists and trainee psychologists.
About us SWIFT Specialist Family Service is an innovative and exciting service provided by East Sussex County Council Children's Services and Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust in partnership. The service provides assessments and interventions to families within East Sussex child protection, safeguarding and care proceedings where the parent / parents' own difficulties: substance misuse, mental health, sexual risk, learning difficulties, domestic violence are impacting on their ability to parent. This post is part of a further service development offering assessments and interventions to adults who presents with complex needs including learning needs, neuro developmental needs and forms of complex trauma often related to their own experiences as children and adults. This post is integrated into the SWIFT Adult Psychology Team contributing to the current Mental Health service offered to high risk families by SWIFT.
