Job summary

Do you enjoy helping patients and working in a busy environment, if so, this could be the role for you. Candidates will need to be a team player, well organised, able to problem solve and work to tight deadlines, whilst maintaining accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable nature are essential for this role as you will have lots of contact with patients.

As part of a Specialist Bladder and Bowel Service you will be the first point of contact for all our patients on the telephone. You will be communicating by phone and email with all individuals that refer into the service plus will work closely with a variety of clinicians to meet the needs of the patients that are seen by the Bladder and Bowel service.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, good knowledge of IT including Microsoft Word, Excel etc and a willingness to learn our IT systems. You will need excellent organisational and prioritisation skills and be able to work flexibility. The busy and varied role will suit someone who has worked in an admin role before or someone with a good knowledge or healthcare or the NHS.

To deal in a professional, helpful and sensitive manner with clients, staff and other agencies by telephone or face to face, taking messages, advising patients about visits, referring other issues as appropriate and answering routine enquiries.

To respond to queries and requests for information within set procedural guidelines.

To manage and prioritise workload on a daily basis and deal with the competing demands of the Bladder and Bowel Service.

To liaise with other departments and agencies, including chasing up pathology results and prescriptions.

To attend meetings to take minutes or notes, transcribe and distribute to all attendees.In return you will work within a supportive team and be able to access regular supervisions and develop opportunities, flexible working, pension scheme and a range of benefits .
