Job Details

Brighton College Prep School is seeking two Gap Assistants to start in August 2023. This is a fixed-term role for one year, until 31 August 2024, with the possibility of extension for the right candidate.

Key responsibilities:

  • To assist in the games department, music department, or Pre-Prep, depending on the specific post, preparing equipment for lessons, supporting during lessons and on fixtures or in concerts and productions.
  • To help with clubs and activities at lunchtimes and after school.
  • To help with regular duties, supervising in the playgrounds and dining hall.
  • To help manage the lost property system in school.
  • To be responsible for tidying specific areas of the school.
  • To assist staff with display.
  • Any other reasonable management request to support the day-to-day running of the school. 

Safeguarding and responsibilities:

  • This role will involve daily contact with pupils, and you will be engaging in regulated activity relevant to children.
  • All staff and volunteers have a responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for who you are responsible and with whom you come into contact. 

Hours of work:

  • The post-holder will work 40 hours per week, 7.45am-4.45pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunchbreak, Monday to Friday inclusive.
  • Some flexibility with start and finish times will be required.
  • This role will work during term-time only (35 weeks per year). 

Holidays:

  • Annual leave entitlement is included in the salary for this role.
  • Holidays should be taken outside of the working weeks.
