Fire Alarms Engineer (small works & reactive)
Salary: £32,000 - £36,000 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)
Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon - Fri

A1 Fire Protection is a leading commercial fire protection company based in Crawley, West Sussex. We are a friendly family run business with over 25 years of professional experience who are about to become BAFE accredited. We provide a wide range of high-quality products and services for businesses, organisations, and property companies across the UK. Our work includes site surveys, fire safety inspections and installations and commissioning and servicing. We pride ourselves on our reputation for reliability and high-quality service which has put us at the forefront of the fire protection industry and, much of the work is a direct result of recommendations and referrals from satisfied clients.
As a Fire Alarm Service Engineer, you will use your technical ability to ensure that you deliver a quality service to our customers whilst having safety and protection for life and property at the heart of everything you do.
Your main duties will include:
- Servicing, maintaining, and installing fire alarm systems (BS5839-1) and emergency lighting system in accordance with the relevant British Standards.
- Working to a schedule of planned jobs daily (daily dockets listed on an i-Pad provided by A1)
- Completing engineer service reports.
- Reporting deficiencies or deviations in systems.
- Liaising with customers confidently and concisely.
- Reporting on and repairing emergency lighting systems and other associated equipment, such as fire extinguishers, AOV’s etc.
- Conducting regular van stock checks, ensuring that materials are replenished and appropriately stocked.
- Working on a call out basis on a 1 in 4 week rota.
What you’ll need
To be successful in this role you will have significant experience as a Fire Alarm servicing and Maintenance Engineer. Ideally, you’ll have detailed knowledge of the principles of BAFE/LPS. As an independent worker who is self-motivated and able to use their own initiative, you will have the ability to work with competence and confidence representing A1 positively and professionally.
You will be provided with a company van and fuel card, so you’ll need to possess a full UK driving licence. You’ll also need strong IT and communication skills and a good understanding of health & safety regulations.
