40 hours, Monday - Friday. Hybrid working available
Join the team at London Gatwick as a CDM Advisor at the world's most efficient single-runway airport, and you'll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality projects across construction programmes. You'll contribute to achieving our ambitious strategic goals and be an integral part of our exciting journey to support a significant investment plan for enhancing and developing our airport infrastructure.
In the role of CDM Advisor, you will be instrumental in fostering a safety-first culture at London Gatwick. On a daily basis, you'll implement effective methods and best practices to assess, monitor and control risks, ensuring compliance with our responsibilities under Construction Design and Management regulations (2015)
What is the role?
Reporting to the Lead Design Manager, you'll take the lead in CDM risk management for construction.
You'll take the lead on defining and implementing clear and efficient processes, and high quality training, to support our Programme delivery teams in providing evidence to show they are meeting required CDM regulations across high value projects.
What will you do?
- Putting in place procedures and practices that help teams consider safety hazards, and mitigate any risks.
- Ensuring CDM assurance checklists are completed for submission at key Tollgate points throughout the project lifecycle
- Undertaking regular audits of compliance across all programmes and reporting back to the Construction leadership team on key issues identified
- Taking ownership for keeping up to date with latest CDM regulations and their broader implications and ensuring London Gatwick is prepared for any changes
What are we looking for?
The live environment at London Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. Involved in projects from inception to completion you will work alongside multiple internal and external stakeholders. In addition, this role requires:
- Significant previous experience as a CDM Advisor
- Qualifications in a discipline associated with construction health & safety management which includes the requirements of safety in design and/or the CDM Regulations
- Experience in presenting legal requirements in a manner that is easy to understand by a non-expert audience.
- Skilled in training non-experts in specialist skills and knowledge such that knowledge is retained and applied.
- Strong experience in developing work in collaboration with other stakeholders, coupled with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
