Overview of RoleWe are recruiting for a skilled hands-on engineer to join a specialist manufacturing environment supporting the build and development of high-precision products.

This role sits between development and production, working on prototype builds, small batch assemblies and continuous improvement projects.

This is not a repetitive production role. The work is varied, technical and suited to someone who enjoys problem-solving and working on complex builds.

We are open to candidates from backgrounds including toolmaking, instrument making, fitting or precision assembly.

Key Responsibilities- Assemble complex mechanical and electro-mechanical components in line with engineering drawings- Carry out precision tasks including fitting, bonding, wiring, routing and component modification- Support prototype builds and development work alongside engineers- Interpret engineering drawings, models and technical documentation- Conduct basic testing (mechanical and electrical checks) and inspections- Identify build issues and contribute to design and process improvements- Maintain accurate build records, test results and documentation

Requirements- Background in toolmaking, instrument making, fitting or precision engineering- Strong ability to read and interpret engineering drawings- Hands-on experience with assembly, fitting or component modification- High attention to detail and quality- Comfortable working in a low-volume or prototype environment- Problem-solving mindset and proactive approach

Desirable- Experience with soldering, brazing, bonding or wiring- Exposure to prototype or R&D environments- Experience with mechanical or electrical testing and measurement- Knowledge of quality standards (e.g. ISO environments)
