Caretaker

We are seeking to appoint a Caretaker to join a dedicated and supportive team within a residential special school environment. This Caretaker role is key to ensuring the site remains safe, secure, well-maintained, and welcoming for pupils, students, staff, and visitors.

As a Caretaker, you will support the Site Manager and play a vital role in the day-to-day upkeep of the premises.

About the Role - Caretaker

The successful Caretaker will be responsible for a wide range of duties including:

• General building maintenance and minor repairs
• Grounds maintenance and upkeep of outdoor areas
• Supporting health & safety compliance across the site
• Ensuring the premises are clean, safe, and in good working order
• Responding to maintenance issues promptly and effectively
• Working in line with policies, procedures, legislation, and best practice
• Supporting the smooth running of a busy residential school environment

This Caretaker position is dynamic and hands-on, ideal for someone with strong practical skills and a proactive approach.

About You - Caretaker

To be successful as a Caretaker, you will:

• Have experience in caretaking, maintenance, or a similar practical role
• Possess a broad range of building and grounds maintenance skills
• Have a good understanding of health and safety requirements
• Hold a valid full UK driving licence
• Be flexible to work various daytime shift patterns
• Be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work as part of a team
