We are looking for a dedicated Dyslexia Learning Support Assistant to work at a specialist school for dyslexic students.

This Dyslexia Learning Support Assistant role is a perfect opportunity for a graduate looking to gain their first experience working with young people with special educational needs, as well as someone looking for the next step in their career to specialise in working with dyslexic pupils, or aspring Therapists.

As a Dyslexia Learning Support Assistant, you will have the opportunity to work closely with various therapy teams including Speech and Language Therapists and Occupational Therapists, if this is a career path you are interested in exploring. This school has their own Therapy Department on site, staffed by qualified therapists and therapy assistants. This is an exciting chance to expand your knowledge, skillset, and gain relevant practical experience.

Entry requirements for a Dyslexia Learning Support Assistant:

  • Undergraduate Degree or experience working with children or young people
  • Knowledge, keen interest or understanding of the range of different types of learning difficulties, disabilities and behaviours

Job role and responsibilities for a Dyslexia Learning Support Assistant:

  • Commitment to working in an inclusive framework, working closely with class teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator
  • Classroom management and organisation
  • Behaviour and pastoral support
  • Ability to build robust and effective relationships with students, and deescalate situations
  • Practical approach to meet the individual needs of students
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Caring, compassionate, and a good listener
  • Willing to work 1:1 and in small groups with students, delivering interventions

Salary range

  • £90 - £100
