About the Role
We’re looking for a proactive and organised Facilities Officer to help manage and improve our centres across Bognor Regis, Haywards Heath, Horsham, Burgess Hill and Brighton. Our centres are the heart of local communities - welcoming spaces where older people come to stay active, connected and supported. You’ll play a key role in ensuring these buildings are safe, efficient, well-maintained and sustainable for everyone who uses them.
Working closely with our Compliance & Quality Manager, you’ll be responsible for coordinating maintenance and refurbishment projects, supporting sustainability and health & safety initiatives, and contributing to long-term estate planning. Your work will directly help Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove continue providing high-quality services that make a real difference in people’s lives.
This is a hybrid role, combining home and centre based working. You can choose your main base from any of our centres, with occasional travel to others. A driving licence and use of a car is essential as you’ll need to be able to travel independently across West Sussex when required.
The role is 20 hours per week, ideally Monday to Friday, with essential cover on Mondays and Fridays. We’re happy to discuss alternative patterns or fewer days for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate maintenance, refurbishment, and improvement projects
- Support capital planning, sustainability initiatives, and asset management
- Maintain accurate records and compliance documentation
- Assist with budgeting, funding bids, and long-term estate planning
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, contractors, and suppliers
What We’re Looking For
- Experience in facilities or estates management
- Strong organisation and project management skills
- Confident communicator and team player
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
Desirable: Knowledge of health & safety, building regulations, environmental standards, charity sector experience, or an interest in supporting older people.
If you feel you have the passion for the role but may not have all the skills we’d love to talk to you, so please do get in contact.
Benefits
We value our team and offer a brilliant benefits package, including:
- Flexible working options
- Ongoing professional development
- 28 days annual leave + bank holidays (pro rata for part-time roles)
- Blue Light Card eligibility
- BUPA Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)
- 4% auto-enrolment pension with life assurance
- Cycle to Work Scheme
