Finance Business Partner

Location: Burgess Hill, West Sussex

Working pattern: Hybrid

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Business Partner to join a growing engineering focused organisation based in Burgess Hill.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded finance professional to work closely with senior engineering and operations teams, providing high quality financial analysis, insight and support to help drive effective decision making and sustainable business growth.

The Role

As Finance Business Partner, you will act as a key finance partner to the R&D and engineering functions. You will provide financial insight, challenge and analysis while supporting forecasting, budgeting, financial control and wider business improvement initiatives.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering monthly financial results and R&D variance analysis.
  • Leading monthly forecasting for R&D project expenditure.
  • Supporting the annual R&D budgeting and target setting process.
  • Providing clear and commercially focused financial analysis to support operational decision making.
  • Supporting business reviews with internal stakeholders.
  • Developing financial agility plans to help manage changing demand and protect profitability.
  • Providing analysis on R&D expenditure, capital expenditure and headcount.
  • Ensuring compliance with financial controls, processes and governance requirements.
  • Preparing and submitting monthly financial reports.
  • Supporting and coordinating internal and external audits, ensuring any issues are resolved sustainably.
  • Contributing to finance systems improvements and month end process optimisation.
  • Supporting wider finance initiatives, including investment reporting and acquisition accounting.
  • Coaching and developing colleagues across finance and engineering teams.
  • Promoting a strong culture of health, safety and wellbeing.

About You

We are looking for someone who can combine strong financial expertise with excellent commercial and interpersonal skills.

You will ideally have:

  • A degree level education.
  • Part qualified or qualified accountant status, such as ACA, CIMA, ACCA or equivalent.
  • At least two years' relevant financial experience.
  • Strong experience in financial analysis, forecasting and business partnering.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to a range of audiences.
  • Strong systems skills and experience delivering finance reporting or business intelligence solutions.
  • A proactive, innovative and customer focused approach.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with stakeholders across finance, engineering and the wider business.

Location

The role is based in Burgess Hill, West Sussex, with a hybrid working arrangement allowing you to split your time between home and the office.
