Finance Manager

An not-for-profit organisation is seeking an experienced and hands-on Interim Management Accountant/Finance Manager to provide stability and support during a busy transition period.
This short term assignment will focus on maintaining day-to-day finance operations, coordinating a small finance team, improving reporting capabilities and strengthening financial controls and processes. You'll work closely with operational stakeholders to ensure the finance function continues to deliver an effective and responsive service.This is a delivery-focused role rather than a strategic leadership position, making it ideal for an experienced contractor who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and adding immediate value.
Key Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end processes, reconciliations and management accounting activities.
• Deliver accurate and timely reporting, variance analysis and draft management accounts.
• Improve reporting functionality and develop finance system outputs for operational use.
• Strengthen financial controls, audit readiness and supporting documentation.
• Document key finance processes and procedures to improve consistency and efficiency.
• Coordinate workloads, priorities and deadlines across a small finance team.
• Work closely with key stakeholders to understand reporting and operational requirements.
• Deliver a clear handover and recommendations to support the incoming permanent Finance Manager.

About you:

Essential

• Strong management accounting experience, including month-end close and reconciliations.
• Excellent financial controls and audit experience.
• Proven ability to coordinate and support small finance teams.
• Advanced Excel and finance systems knowledge.
• Strong reporting and process improvement skills.
• Proactive, organised and delivery-focused approach.

Desirable

• Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.
• Systems development or database configuration knowledge.
• Experience within not-for-profit, healthcare or other regulated environments.
• Year-end audit support experience.
