Our Client is an established Building Trade company, with depots based in the South East of England. They are looking for a HGV 2 Driver to join their team in their East Grinstead depot.
Delivering to residential and commercial customers. The job does involve 80% handballing products, 5-7 drops per day. Rotating zone areas in the Southeast and the opportunity to progress onto HIAB/Moffat.
Main Duties
- To carry out multidrop deliveries between our depots and customers in a safe and efficient way.
 - Carry out manual handling of goods.
 - Must be able to load and strap own vehicle for next day's deliveries.
 - Able to switch between 3.5 to HGV 2 if required.
 - Transporting goods between our depots and trade and domestic customers
 - Ensuring your vehicle is clean, safe and your load is legally roadworthy.
 - Undertaking vehicle safety checks, basic repairs, and maintenance.
 - Overseeing and assisting with loading and unloading.
 - Updating delivery paperwork, logbooks and tracking mileage.
 - Complying with all relevant driving regulations and rules.
 - Staying informed on road closers, diversions, and traffic jams.
 - Reporting any delays or accidents.
 - Driver training given on site.
 - Must be able drive a flat bed and use company mobile and SAT NAV
 - Able to work with weekly rotating shifts to enable a coverage of 5 zone areas in the Southeast.
 
Qualifications And Experience
- Must HGV Class 2 licence (with no more than 6 points on licence)
 - Pass a pre-requisite certified medical.
 - Must have 6 months + commercial driving experience.
 - Be physically fit.
 - Hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (Driver CPC).
 - Experience with GPS navigation, mapping, and route planning.
 - Ability to carry out basic tasks on a computer or hand-held device.
 - Be willing to train into the Moffatt and HIAB 26t.
 - Good attention to detail to ensure that correct products are loaded/unloaded.
 - Must carry out manual handling on products.
 - Good communicator and comfortable dealing with customers
 - Ability to successfully handle difficult situations in a calm manner.
 - Must have a flexible attitude and readiness to adapt swiftly to change.
 - Be self-motivated and have the ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
 
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday (no weekend work)
 - Standards contract hours are 08:00 to 17:30 (but drivers have a more flexible approach so they can miss peak traffic)
