Independent Living Coordinator

Hours: 22.5 hours a week

Salary: £15,937 per annum - (£26,208 FTE)

Location: Brighton

Age UK West Sussex, Brighton & Hove is seeking a compassionate and organised Independent Living Coordinator to support the delivery of our Help at Home, Hospital and community support services for older people.

Guided by our VIP values – Valued, Included and Passionate – you will carry out home visits, assessments, reviews and quality monitoring, ensuring independent living services are safe, reliable and person centred.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete customer assessments and reviews, identifying needs, risks and individual requirements
  • Respond to customer enquiries and manage telephone calls, referrals and signposting
  • Liaise with external agencies and internal teams to coordinate appropriate support
  • Match customers with suitable helpers or volunteers and resolve service issues
  • Carry out home social support visits to ensure service quality and customer satisfaction
  • Collect annual administration fees where appropriate
  • Ensure services operate in line with Health & Safety requirements, policies and procedures
  • Contribute to service improvement and attend meetings and training as required
  • Support the safety and wellbeing of customers, staff, helpers and volunteers
  • Undertake additional reasonable duties as requested, including occasional office opening or locking up

About You

You will be someone who shares our VIP values – Valued, Included and Passionate – and enjoys supporting people to live independently with dignity. We’re looking for someone who brings:

  • A genuine interest in supporting older people or vulnerable adults (any relevant experience is welcomed but not essential)
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport
  • Good organisational skills and confidence managing your own workload
  • A sensitive and flexible approach when working with customers, families, volunteers and professionals
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion and safeguarding
  • The ability to work independently, while also being a supportive and reliable team member
