Location: Near Polegate, East Sussex (with regular travel to France & Germany)
An opportunity has arisen for a skilled Mechanical Service Engineer to join a precision engineering environment. This is a hands-on, field-based role combining mechanical inspection, fault finding, supplier quality, and production support.
You will be responsible for inspecting complex components against engineering drawings, working to tight tolerances, and using metrology equipment such as Faro Arm and CMM. The role involves diagnosing and resolving mechanical and quality issues both on-site and at supplier locations across Europe, acting as a key technical representative for the business.
Working closely with suppliers, customers, and internal teams, you will manage non-conformances, carry out root cause analysis, and support corrective actions to ensure high quality standards are maintained. You will also contribute to production planning, maintain accurate documentation, and support continuous improvement initiatives across the supply chain.
The role requires strong experience within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment, with the ability to read complex drawings and apply GD&T principles. Knowledge of quality systems such as ISO 9001, along with experience in supplier quality and problem solving, is essential. Familiarity with ERP systems and quality tools such as AQL and SPC would be beneficial.
