Role Overview
We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled HVAC Engineer to be based at a client's commercial head office in Hove.
You will play a key role within the site maintenance team, ensuring all HVAC systems and associated building services operate efficiently, safely, and in line with client expectations. This is a client-facing role requiring a high standard of professionalism and technical expertise.
While the role is primarily based in Hove, there will be an element of flexibility required, including occasional support for London-based sites.
Call-Out & Working Pattern
- Call-out rota: 1 in 4
- Standby allowance: 125 per week
- Call-out payment: Minimum of 4 hours paid at overtime rate per attendance
- Occasional requirement to cover London sites as part of the call-out rota
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on HVAC systems
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on air conditioning systems, pipework, and associated equipment
- Perform basic electrical maintenance, including fault finding on control circuits and associated HVAC electrical components
- Carry out minor electrical works such as replacing components (e.g. contactors, relays, sensors, and motors)
- Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety regulations and company procedures
- Complete risk assessments and point-of-work risk assessments prior to tasks
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and system performance
- Support installation, upgrades, and refurbishment of HVAC systems where required
- Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues and subcontractors
- Monitor subcontractor works and ensure compliance with RAMS and site standards
- Ensure adequate stock levels of consumables and arrange replenishment when required
- Respond promptly to emergency call-outs and maintain clear communication with the client
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and report to the Technical Lead
Health & Safety
- Adhere to all company and client health & safety policies at all times
- Report hazards, incidents, and risks immediately
- Ensure all works are carried out in a safe and compliant manner
Skills & Experience Required
- HVAC Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
- Relevant qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or HVAC (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 5 years' experience in HVAC maintenance and installation
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, fault finding, and industry standards
- Basic electrical experience is required; formal electrical qualifications are desirable but not essential
- Experience working in commercial environments
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills
- Basic IT skills (tablet provided for reporting, PPMs, and reactive works)
- Health & Safety qualification (IOSH or equivalent preferred)
- Full UK driving licence
