Paralegal - Court of Protection
Location: Brighton & Hove
Salary: 27,000- 28,000 DOE
I'm currently supporting a highly respected law firm in Brighton & Hove that is looking to appoint a Paralegal to join their well-established Court of Protection team. This role is ideal for someone who wants to develop long-term within a specialist area and gain exposure to both fee-earning work and broader case management responsibilities.
You'll be joining a supportive team where you'll work closely with senior colleagues and play a key part in ensuring clients receive an exceptional level of care.
Role Overview
In this position, the successful candidate will be involved in a variety of tasks, including:
Assisting senior fee-earners with ongoing cases
Supporting with time recording, WIP management and billing processes
Communicating with clients, families, carers and other professionals across multiple channels
Helping manage clients' financial and administrative affairs (insurance, benefits, HMRC, invoices, etc.)
Organising and maintaining documents to firm standards
Handling new enquiries and directing them appropriately
Carrying out legal research to support case progression
Preparing routine correspondence
Liaising with external suppliers and obtaining quotes
Assisting with budgeting and account reconciliations
Supporting team marketing and networking activities
Candidate Profile
My client is looking for someone who offers:
Experience within Court of Protection or a closely related legal environment (essential)
A law degree is advantageous but not essential
Strong communication skills and a high level of attention to detail
The ability to thrive in a busy environment and manage competing tasks
A proactive, collaborative working style
A compassionate and patient approach, especially when working with individuals affected by brain injuries or other significant conditions
