The Production Director will lead the next stage of operational maturity-embedding lean principles, stabilising performance, and developing a capable leadership team. This hands-on, visible role suits someone who thrives on building structure and discipline in a bespoke, fast-paced manufacturing environment. 12-month FTC/interim, with potential to go perm.

We're representing a well-established, privately owned UK manufacturer within the timber products and bespoke joinery sector. The business has achieved three consecutive years of double-digit growth and continues to strengthen its reputation for quality, innovation, and customer loyalty. As part of its ongoing transformation, the company is investing in the professionalisation of its operations - moving from single-site manufacturing towards a scalable, multi-site model. Description

  • Lead and optimise production operations across a 130-person manufacturing site.
  • Introduce and embed lean manufacturing practices and performance metrics (quality, waste, efficiency).
  • Develop and coach production management and frontline teams, building capability and engagement.
  • Strengthen production systems, processes, and reporting structures to support growth and scalability.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and H&S to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable output.
  • Play a key role in preparing the business for multi-site manufacturing.

Profile

A successful Production professional should have:

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across departments.Proven track record in senior production or operations leadership within manufacturing.
  • Experience of leading lean and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Strong people leadership - able to gain trust, inspire change, and develop teams.
  • Comfortable in a low-volume, high-variation / bespoke production environment.
  • Ideally from timber, joinery, or building products, but open to wider manufacturing backgrounds.
  • Resilient, pragmatic, and delivery-focused - capable of making a rapid, tangible impact.
