Electrical Project Engineer - Water & Environmental Projects
Brighton (Falmer Office) £50,000 - £55,000 + Car Allowance
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Electrical Project Engineer to join a growing team delivering major clean water and wastewater infrastructure projects across the South East.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer who enjoys managing projects from concept through to commissioning and wants to work on technically challenging schemes within the UK water sector. The role offers a strong mix of office, hybrid, and site-based work, with an initial focus on design and coordination before transitioning into a more site-delivery focused position later in the year.
Working as part of a collaborative project delivery team, you will play a key role in delivering non-infrastructure M&E projects, supporting all stages of the project lifecycle from early design coordination through to testing, commissioning, and final handover.
The Role
As an Electrical Project Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Managing end-to-end project delivery from design through to commissioning and handover
Coordinating with design teams, suppliers, subcontractors, and site teams
Supporting delivery of clean water and wastewater M&E projects
Managing procurement of materials and specialist equipment
Assisting with subcontractor management, cost control, and project forecasting
Producing and reviewing health & safety documentation including RAMS and project management plans
Supporting testing, commissioning, client training, and handover activities
Participating in design reviews, hazard studies, and technical meetings
Ensuring projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the required quality standards
Managing project documentation including commissioning manuals, O&M manuals, and as-built drawings
Supporting inspection and test plans throughout project delivery
Building strong relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders
This role has a strong Control & ICA focus, making it ideal for someone with experience working on electrical and instrumentation elements of water sector projects.
What They're Looking For
The successful candidate will ideally have:
HNC/HND/Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering
Proven experience working within the UK water industry
Experience delivering non-infrastructure M&E projects
Strong understanding of project delivery, procurement, and site coordination
Commercial awareness and experience managing project costs
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
Ability to work across both office and site environments
Organised and proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple project elements simultaneously
Working knowledge of Microsoft Project and Microsoft Office packages
ATEX experience would be advantageous but is not essential
