The Role
The Quality Goods Inwards Inspector will be responsible for the inspection and verification of incoming goods, working closely with suppliers and internal stakeholders to resolve quality issues efficiently and effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Inspecting incoming goods and sub-assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications
- Building strong working relationships with suppliers through clear and accurate communication of quality concerns
- Raising and managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and driving timely resolution with suppliers
- Carrying out root cause analysis and ensuring corrective actions are implemented and closed out
- Acting as the key point of contact for supplier quality concerns raised from the shopfloor
- Championing continuous improvement across the supply base, promoting a right first time approach
- Applying appropriate AQL inspection plans based on supplier performance, product criticality and new supplier status
- Managing supplier Red Flag status within the ERP system
- Reviewing supplier performance, supporting supplier audits and monitoring KPIs
- Maintaining and updating inspection and quality data within the company ERP system
Essential:
- Experience working to ISO 9001:2015 standards
- Minimum of 3 years experience in a machine shop or similar manufacturing engineering environment
- Strong understanding of quality and process control tools such as SPC and AQL
- Experience using CMM and/or Faro Arm inspection equipment
- Proficient with a wide range of metrology equipment
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications, including GD&T and datum structures
- Experience working with suppliers to resolve complex quality issues
- Knowledge of ISO 2859-1:1999 sampling procedures
- Experience recording deviations and non-conformances against drawings and specifications
- Awareness of ISIRs and First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs)
- Knowledge or experience of welding and fabrication processes
- Previous experience within the vacuum industry
- Qualification to BTEC / HNC / HND level in Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing
