Quality Inspector
Reports to: Quality Cell Leader Location: Hailsham, East Sussex

JOB PURPOSE / PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The main purpose of this role is to undertake inspection and verification activities, ensuring products meet customer expectations and required standards within a highly regulated industry.

INSPECTION & VERIFICATION
  • Inspect incoming goods and shop floor components to ensure conformity to required specifications.
  • Ensure all products meet customer expectations and standards.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of Initial Sample Inspection Reports (ISIRs) and First Article Inspection Reports (F.A.I.R).
  • Inspect sub-assemblies against technical drawings using a variety of metrology equipment, including Faro Arm and CMM equipment.
  • Work to very tight tolerances, with a good understanding of geometric tolerancing and datum points relating to complex components.
  • Occasional travel may be required. Travel will be planned in advance with reasonable notice, with reasonable expenses covered.
  • Communicate effectively and work proactively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrate good administration and IT skills.

DOCUMENTATION & REPORTING
  • Record deviations and non-conformances against drawings and specifications.
  • Complete documentation in line with ISO 9001:2015 requirements.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Able to read and understand technical drawings and engineering specifications.
  • Experience working within a quality system.
  • Experience working in a machine shop or precision engineering environment.
  • Good understanding of Quality and Process Management tools and methodologies, including examples such as SPC and AQL.
  • Experience using CMM or Faro Arm devices and proficiency with a range of metrology equipment typically used in machine shop environments.

DESIRABLE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
  • Knowledge of or experience with welding and fabrication processes would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience working within the vacuum industry would be advantageous.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Qualified to Degree, HNC, HND or equivalent level in a Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing discipline.
