AFML is a leading provider of Maintenance, Projects, Passive Fire Protection and Retail Fit-Out services across Airports, Retail, and Commercial environments. Due to continued growth within our Projects Division, we are seeking a skilled and driven Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team.

The Role
We are looking for an experienced QS/Estimator with a strong construction background, capable of supporting our expanding portfolio of refurbishment works, retail fit outs, and passive fire protection projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously, and confident in dealing with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.

Quantity Surveyor / Estimator

This is an office-based role in Crawley, with occasional travel to sites in Oxford and London as required (typically once a week or fortnightly).

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for projects across refurbishments, retail fit-outs and passive fire protection
  • Carry out full quantity surveying duties throughout project lifecycles
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost plans, and tender documentation
  • Liaise closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Directors to ensure cost control throughout delivery
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress, variations, and commercial opportunities
  • Review drawings, specifications and technical documents to produce accurate pricing
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
  • Support with valuations, cost reporting, final accounts, and client liaison
  • Assist in strengthening client relationships and supporting ongoing growth across the division

Experience & Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a QS/Estimator within the construction/refurbishment sector
  • Experience within Retail Fit-Outs and/or Airport environments is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of Passive Fire Protection works advantageous
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team
  • Strong communication and client-facing skills
  • Proficient with industry-standard measurement and estimating software
  • Full UK driving licence
