AFML is a leading provider of Maintenance, Projects, Passive Fire Protection and Retail Fit-Out services across Airports, Retail, and Commercial environments. Due to continued growth within our Projects Division, we are seeking a skilled and driven Quantity Surveyor / Estimator to join our team.
The Role
We are looking for an experienced QS/Estimator with a strong construction background, capable of supporting our expanding portfolio of refurbishment works, retail fit outs, and passive fire protection projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, able to manage multiple tenders simultaneously, and confident in dealing with clients, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
Quantity Surveyor / Estimator
This is an office-based role in Crawley, with occasional travel to sites in Oxford and London as required (typically once a week or fortnightly).
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate and competitive estimates for projects across refurbishments, retail fit-outs and passive fire protection
- Carry out full quantity surveying duties throughout project lifecycles
- Prepare Bills of Quantities, cost plans, and tender documentation
- Liaise closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Directors to ensure cost control throughout delivery
- Conduct site visits to assess progress, variations, and commercial opportunities
- Review drawings, specifications and technical documents to produce accurate pricing
- Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations
- Support with valuations, cost reporting, final accounts, and client liaison
- Assist in strengthening client relationships and supporting ongoing growth across the division
Experience & Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience as a QS/Estimator within the construction/refurbishment sector
- Experience within Retail Fit-Outs and/or Airport environments is highly desirable
- Strong understanding of Passive Fire Protection works advantageous
- Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while contributing to a wider team
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Proficient with industry-standard measurement and estimating software
- Full UK driving licence
