SEN Teaching Assistant - Specialist School

Location: Near Wadhurst, East Sussex

Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with additional needs? Academics are currently recruiting for a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to work within a specialist school near Wadhurst.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support pupils with special educational needs, particularly social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, helping them access learning, develop confidence and build positive relationships in a supportive school environment.

The Role:

• Supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH needs in the classroom and across the school.

• Helping pupils manage their emotions, behaviour and engagement with learning.

• Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils and encouraging their independence.

• Supporting teachers to create a calm, structured and inclusive learning environment.

• Assisting with classroom activities, learning resources and wider school life.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or behavioural needs.

• Is patient, resilient, caring and proactive.

• Can build positive relationships and respond calmly to challenging situations.

• Is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning.

• Works well as part of a team and is committed to safeguarding.
