Senior Financial Accountant - Publishing

Leading Publishing House are looking for a qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA Financial Accountant with 2 years PQE to own the financial accounting areas and ensure balance sheet integrity, tax compliance and accounting accuracy.

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead inventory and stock accounting including reconciliations and provisions
  • Support group reporting, FPM reconciliations and hard-close processes
  • Prepare UK and overseas tax analysis and returns including CT, VAT and withholding taxes
  • Prepare statutory accounts, audit packs and year-end accounting schedules
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and complex journals
  • Lead VAT/GST preparation and review process
  • Prepare and review payroll journals and overseas tax filings
  • Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and support to junior finance team members
  • Own technical accounting judgements and supporting documentation
  • Contribute to internal controls development and periodic reviews
  • Identify efficiency opportunities across month-end, reporting and reconciliation processes
  • Develop and maintain finance SOPs and control documentation
  • Draft accounting papers or memos to document positions taken
  • Lead or contribute to finance projects such as system upgrades, automation initiatives or policy changes
  • Support finance leadership with one-off analysis, modelling or insight to inform business decisions.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Chartered accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) with at least 2+ years PQE
  • Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge
  • Experience in publishing, media or inventory-heavy environments is desirable
  • Ability to manage complexity, audits and senior stakeholder queries

Salary range

  • £55,000 - £65,000
