With a £1.5 billion programme underway, we're expanding our team to deliver even more innovative, sustainable interventions across the region. As a Storm Overflow Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of this mission-designing and delivering bespoke solutions to reduce storm overflow spills, working across departments, contractors, and communities to make a real impact. What You'll Be Doing Analyse technical reports to understand the root causes of storm overflow activation Design and deliver targeted interventions across 20+ catchments, including multi-million-pound schemes Manage budgets and spill reduction targets within your geographical area Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver schemes-often on assets not owned by Southern Water Review rainfall, pump station and monitoring data to assess impact and improve future interventions Present business cases, forecast budgets, and report on performance and outcomes Attend monthly community presentations to share updates and build advocacy-sometimes in challenging environments Engage with customers and stakeholders to build trust and support for stormwater management Lead health and safety responsibilities across all delivery activities Influence uptake of sustainable drainage solutions (SuDS) on private propertyWe're looking for someone strategic and resourceful, with strong technical understanding of wastewater and sewer systems. You'll be a confident communicator with the ability to simplify complex technical information for non-technical audiences, empathetic and composed when working with customers under pressure, experienced in managing contractors and cross-functional teams, skilled in risk management, governance, and health & safety leadership, comfortable working with incomplete datasets and driving innovation in a new regulatory space. A BTEC/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience is required.
