
Transport Supervisor

Main Purpose of the Role
To support the effective day-to-day running of the school's transport operations by supervising minibus drivers, ensuring safe and timely pupil transport, and assisting with fleet management.
This role includes a combination of supervisory responsibilities and driving duties, with an emphasis on safety, efficiency and clear communication.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transport operations, including scheduling and coordination of minibus drivers.
- Support logistical planning for school trips, sports fixtures, and off-site activities.
- Supervise the accurate records of transport activities, including journey logs, pupil attendance, fuel usage, and incident reports.
- Liaise with teaching, administrative, and support staff to meet transport requirements.
- Assist with managing driver rotas, absences, and vehicle allocations.
- Support emergency transport arrangements and safeguarding procedures as needed.
- Promote and uphold a high standard of health and safety practices across all transport operations.
- Undertake driving duties as required.
- Any other reasonable management request.
Person Specification
The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas:
Essential
- Previous experience in transport operations or fleet supervision.
- A valid UK driving licence (category D1 preferred).
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- Ability to supervise and support a small team effectively.
- Reliable, punctual and safety conscious.
- Calm, professional and able to handle emergencies or incidents confidentially.
Desirable
- Experience as a School Bus Driver or in an educational transport setting.
- First Aid or MIDAS (Minibus Driver Awareness Scheme) training.
Hours of Work
- Monday to Friday, 8.00am to 5.00pm with a 60-minute unpaid lunch break (40 hours per week).
- This role may require occasional evening and weekend work to attend events (e.g Open Mornings) and to address transport issues as they arise.
Remuneration
- A salary in the range of £33,000 - £35,000 per annum will be offered to reflect the individual's skills and experience.
Holidays
- 23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service.
