"What keeps us well?" A Heritage Project

What Keeps Us Well is a creative open call as part of a heritage project delivered in collaboration with the Surrey History Centre. Inspired by a 1921 poem found in a Shalford Women's Institute scrapbook, we invite participants to reflect on the theme "What keeps you well?" through visual or written work.

Short Description: Open Call for Creatives
"Woven into the days of stress, the golden threads of thankfulness."

Inspired by A. F. Foreman's 1921 poem "Shalford, 1921", discovered in a Shalford Women's Institute scrapbook at the Surrey History Centre, we invite artists, writers, and filmmakers to reflect on what keeps you well.

We welcome creative responses in any form:

  • Visual art: illustration, photography, mixed media, digital art (high-quality digital image, 300dpi), or film (up to 3 minutes, submitted via Vimeo or YouTube link)
  • Written work: poetry, prose, or short reflections (up to 500 words)
