Design Engineers (All Levels) Civil / Mechanical / Electrical &amp; ICA About the Role Our client is looking to strengthen their engineering design team with talented Design Engineers across Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical &amp; ICA disciplines, at Engineer, Senior, and Principal levels.Based at Their Falmer offices with flexible hybrid working, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality, cost-effective, and safe engineering design solutions for a range of turnkey and engineering services projects.You will be responsible for coordinating, developing, and delivering detailed design documentation and drawings, ensuring compliance with project specifications, company standards, and all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.Key Responsibilities<ul> <li>Produce cost-effective, compliant, and constructible design layouts, drawings, and documentation that meet project specifications and programme requirements.</li><li>Ensure that standard practices, processes, and procedures are applied and continuously improved.</li><li>Provide technical input, estimates, and feedback to support the Proposals and Delivery teams.</li><li>Coordinate design activities across all disciplines (civil, mechanical, electrical, ICA, and process) and with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers.</li><li>Ensure that design work fully considers health, safety, and environmental requirements.</li><li>Contribute to and maintain departmental quality and efficiency processes, reviewing and developing best practice.</li><li>Support and foster a customer-focused culture, ensuring internal and external stakeholders receive high-quality service and value.</li><li>Maintain records, drawings, and design files in accordance with company procedures.</li><li>(For Senior/Principal roles) Mentor and support junior engineers, promote knowledge sharing, and contribute to the professional development of the team.</li><li>(For Senior/Principal roles) Assist in managing design teams, ensuring coordinated delivery across multiple projects.</li></ul> Essential:<ul> <li>Relevant qualification in your discipline: minimum HND, preferably degree-qualified in Civil, Mechanical, or Electrical/ICA Engineering.</li><li>Understanding of the principles of water and wastewater treatment design.</li><li>Ability to rationalise and optimise designs to deliver economical and practical engineering solutions.</li><li>Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and confidently.</li><li>Computer literate, with proficiency in relevant design and analysis software.</li><li>Flexible and adaptable, able to manage multiple data inputs and changing project requirements.</li></ul> Desirable:<ul> <li>Chartered or near-Chartered status (e.g. MICE, IMechE, MIET, or equivalent).</li><li>Proven experience in mentoring, supervising, or managing design teams.</li><li>Broad knowledge of multi-disciplinary water sector design, including process, mechanical, and electrical interfaces.</li><li>Valid UK driving licence.</li></ul> Company informationAt First Recruitment Group we understand just how important it is to secure the right people.
