Alternative Provision Teaching Assistant - West Sussex (Long-Term Supply)

Locations: Chichester, Littlehampton, Worthing, Lancing, Burgess Hill & Crawley Start Date: Immediate start available or from September Contract: Long-term supply Pay: £120 per day - hours 8.30am to 3.30pm

About the Role

We are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Teaching Assistants to support pupils within Alternative Provision settings across West Sussex. These roles are available on a long-term supply basis, with flexibility to start immediately or from the new academic year in September.

You will be working with students who may have additional needs, including SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) challenges, behavioural needs, or those who require a more tailored educational approach outside of mainstream settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils
  • Support students with behaviour management and emotional regulation
  • Build positive relationships to promote engagement and trust
  • Assist in implementing individual learning and support plans
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and support teams
  • Help create a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment

About You

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Passionate about supporting young people in alternative education settings
  • Calm, patient and able to effectively manage challenging behaviour
  • Experienced in education, youth work, care, or similar roles (desirable but not essential)
  • Confident working with students with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs
  • Reliable, adaptable and committed to making a positive impact
