This role takes an office first hybrid approach here at London Gatwick, with three days a week in the office, two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.What is the role?Responsibility for the driving sustainable practices within Gatwick's Engineering function to address commitments through Gatwick's sustainability policies and procedures. Through continual improvement, innovative thinking, and harnessing changing technologies, this role will support and energise the wider Engineering function to excel in the sustainability sector.Delivery and sponsorship of projects relating to Engineering's sustainability commitments will be a key part of the role and requires effective communication across different levels within the business to ensure benefits are realised in a timely and effective way.What will you do?<ul><li>Drive and prioritise sustainability activities and maintain momentum to achieve a best-in-class sustainability position</li><li>Utilise best practice industry standards to ensure Gatwick's sustainability solutions are fit for purpose</li><li>Sponsor and project manage projects to deliver beneficial outcomes for the business</li><li>Establish a culture of continuous improvement within the sustainability sector for maintenance and Engineering projects.</li><li>Provide technical guidance and expertise to all GAL departments in the design, construction, operation and maintenance of engineering systems and infrastructure.</li><li>Own and deliver a communications rhythm to bring the Engineering function on the journey to a more sustainable future</li><li>Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure successful design outcomes are being realised and handed over to operational teams</li><li>Balance the need to design fit for purpose solutions whilst maximising the best whole life cycle benefits.</li></ul>Do you have what we're looking for?<ul><li>Educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering discipline</li><li>Proven proactive leadership to promote health and safety culture</li><li>Strong people leadership and influencing skills to communicate across the business and with external stakeholders</li><li>Proven in depth working knowledge of safety management policies, procedures, and practices</li><li>Experience in delivering strategic outcomes associated with ESG agendas in complex, large, multi-faceted organisations</li><li>Demonstrable experience of successful delivery in an operational environment</li><li>Proficient understanding of Health Safety &amp; Environmental associated with construction and operational environments, including CDM</li><li>Adept at communicating at all levels and across different teams and stakeholders</li><li>In-depth knowledge of current specific Statutory Regulations, British Standards, emerging technologies/processes, and industry best practice.</li></ul>What's in it for you?We value our people and reward every employee fairly with a highly competitive package, enhanced by a discretionary annual bonus, free staff parking, discounted rail travel to work, share matching scheme and more. What is the role?To conduct planned and reactionary, maintenance and intervention tasks on all plant and equipment which make up the baggage systems in Gatwick Airport. To ensure that duties undertaken are of a high standard and to maximise operational uptime. This is a shift-based position which includes night and weekend working.This role is critical in supporting the Baggage operations at Gatwick, with key assets including Complex Conveyor Systems, Sortation Machines, Carousels, Scanners, PLCs and IT based Control Systems.What will you do?<ul><li>Undertake planned preventative/corrective maintenance, mindful of asset performance and operational requirements.</li><li>Ensure all engineering and operational records are updated to meet business, regulatory and manufacturer requirements.</li><li>Pro-actively undertake and support performance improvement activities/programmes.</li><li>Take responsibility for safety, including others as part of a legal responsibility such as the wearing of PPE, completing mandatory training and the reporting of accidents, incidents and near misses.</li><li>Developing skills and knowledge to maintain and operate existing and new assets to ensure they are maintained in a manner which keeps them performing at a required level</li><li>Undertake role specific training required for the role</li><li>Working in passenger facing areas, as well as back of house areas (check in zones, baggage halls, comms rooms, security etc.) across the airport campus.</li><li>Working collaboratively.
