The Role
Working as part of the operational support team, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining a safe, clean and organised yard
- Loading and unloading vehicles, equipment and materials
- Preparing plant, tools and equipment ready for site teams
- Carrying out routine inspections of vehicles, plant and equipment, reporting any defects
- Managing stock levels of materials, consumables and PPE
- Assisting with deliveries, collections and the mobilisation of site teams
- Supporting vehicle servicing schedules and maintaining accurate records
- Operating forklifts and other yard equipment where qualified
- Ensuring all work is carried out in line with Health & Safety procedures
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Yardman, Yard Operative, Warehouse Operative or in a similar role
- A strong understanding of Health & Safety and safe working practices
- The ability to carry out manual handling and physical work
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- A positive attitude and willingness to support operational teams
- Full UK driving licence (preferred)
Desirable:
- Forklift licence
- Experience within the drainage, utilities, construction or infrastructure sectors
