We have an immediate vacancy for a Senior IT Support Technician to join our small IT team and fulfil a leading role in ensuring the smooth running of the Company’s IT infrastructure and also providing Desktop Support to both local and remote users.

THE ROLE

  • Proactively monitoring and maintaining the Company’s computer systems, networks and peripheral equipment; diagnosing and rectifying hardware, Microsoft software, email, backup and networking faults, and applications problems
  • Overseeing the work and training the Junior IT Support Technician
  • Aerotron uses an in-house system developed on Microsoft VBA client with a SQL server Database.  The main infrastructure comprises:
  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 running Hyper-V
  • Microsoft SQL Server 2016
  • Windows 7/10 clients with Microsoft Office 2013/16
  • Remote Desktop (Remote Apps, RD Web)
  • Microsoft Exchange Online with Mimecast Email Protection

THE PERSON

  • 3-5 year’s similar experience in an IT critical environment within a commercial setting
  • Sound knowledge of networks including printer networking, NAS, Routers, Firewalls, SAN, Fibre Switches, VPN, Anti-Virus, Wi-Fi, WAP, VLAN, VOIP and other networking technologies, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WSUS
  • In-depth understanding of backups, backup software and restoration methods
  • Knowledge of computer components and hardware, with the ability to assemble/upgrade/ fault-find desktop computers, servers and peripheral equipment
  • Basic knowledge of SQL Server 2016; Web Server hosting
  • Excellent communication, organisational, problem solving, skills and able to deal with changing priorities and urgent issues.
  • Willing to travel to Glasgow with overnight stay 6-8 times a year.
