In a nutshell

If you can think “red”, make friends and have a passion for aviation then we would love to hear from you.

Here at Virgin Atlantic, we are using our data to take our operational performance to the next level to deliver an exceptional experience for our customers in order to become the most loved travel company. No two days are the same in operations; we are constantly working to ensure we have everything in place to guarantee the safe and efficient running of the operation. This role will require you to work to an extremely high standard, often under strict time deadlines and accepting that at times requirements may change quickly. That being said, this role is as rewarding as it is varied. In addition to industry leading travel benefits, you will also have the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders across Virgin Atlantic, Delta, Air France-KLM and play an active role in ensuring the continued success of the operations and customer teams.

Day to day

  • Creating and developing innovative solution/tools with user friendly interfaces that enhance insight/automate processes to deliver continuous improvement.
  • Creating and maintaining rich interactive visualisations through data interpretation and analysis integrating various reporting components from multiple data sources.
  • Producing operations ‘dashboard(s)’ providing KPI performance whilst regularly reviewing reports to ensure they are relevant and meaningful.
  • Working to time, cost and quality objectives and able to quickly respond to urgent operational needs, re-prioritising work as appropriate.

About you

We are looking for someone with an analytical mind and inclination for problem solving with exceptional attention to detail and lateral thinking. You’ll be setting the standard using your initiative and advanced analytical skills to create new tools and/or processes to provide actionable insight.

You will have an extensive data background and be comfortable working with large datasets to derive insight from disparate/varied data sources. You will need to be as dynamic as our operation and be comfortable adapting to changing organisational/operational requirements.

Your role will work at the heart of our operations providing actionable data insights across engineering, airports and crew management amongst others.

You will be educated to a degree level preferably in a statistics, economics, mathematical or engineering related discipline, or have equivalent Business Analyst Skills/experience. Experience with programming languages such as SQL, R or/and Phyton is required and working understanding of object-based programming languages such as VBA is preferred. Knowledge of other programming languages (Java, HTML) is an advantage.

To be successful in this role you will need to be a confident team player and be comfortable working under pressure across all areas of the business. Most importantly, you will be someone who can put the business and our customer’s needs first. Someone who has good time management skills, extremely organised and has excellent attention to detail. If the above sounds like you, we would love to hear from you.
