Your day to day responsibilities will include:
Manage and maintain the Entomology Laboratory, colleagues, external collaborators, and test resources in order to lead and deliver:
Innovation Projects to Proof of Concept stage (pre-D2 gate)
Testing to support other M&I initiatives, e.g. to support regulatory dossiers product development benchmarking and marketing claims testing
To use their experience of the company and the industry as well as urban insect pest biology and behaviour in order to deliver:
A primary point of contact in order to support the businesses with technical opinions and help in solving complex pest problems
On site support where required in order to demonstrate RI’s expertise and problem solving capability to customers
Identification of new opportunities for innovation / novel new solutions to complex pest problems or operational issues
To manage their team and the resources at the Power Centre to ensure that lab tour guests and other visitors receive an appropriately engaging and informative experience whilst in the entomology facility
Deliver designated Innovation projects either as a Project Leader or Workstream Leader and work effectively with Project Managers, other M&I personnel and external collaborators, in order to deliver data and reports on time and in full.
Ensure all project work is designed, conducted, data analysed and reported, in a timely manner and to a standard process to ensure conclusions drawn are accurate and data is available for later use, e.g. to support registration or marketing needs.
To act as a coach and direct line manager to the Entomology Team
Manage laboratory resources (livestock and test rooms) along with staff workloads in order to deliver projects on time, in full.
If you wish to be considered for this role you will need:
Essential
A working technical knowledge of current urban pest control techniques
Experience in New Product Development
Experience of experimental design and ability to manipulate and analyse large data sets, and ability to work at pace to meet tight deadlines
Ability to communicate results and their significance to peers and commercial sponsors of work
Willingness to travel nationally and internationally to liaise with frontline colleagues, sometimes at short notice
BSc in a biological subject with at least GCSE level in Maths and English
Working knowledge of desktop publishing packages, particularly Microsoft Office and Google Cloud software
Excellent English written and verbal communication
Desirable
Experience with insect vectors of disease or other grouping of urban insect pests
A minimum of 2 years working within the pest control industry at a global level
Qualified to PhD degree in an entomology discipline
Fluent in other languages used in the RI businesses globally
Full current driving license
