Job Description:

The quantity surveyor provides commercial support to the project team maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements. The quantity surveyor will liaise with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Help ensure that any main contracts entered into have terms and conditions that are appropriate for the company, with commercial risks identified.
  • Ensure that the subcontract is engaged appropriately with the correct contract terms and conditions, including scope and costs.
  • Assist with good client relationships.
  • Submit applications for payment and obtain payment notices in line with contract agreements.
  • Liaise with the client, client representatives and other third parties on commercial issues, including agreement of variations, claims and additional payments.
  • Work with site management to forecast predicted spend and cash recovery and ensure that both are kept in line with target, with involvement in updating the monthly commercial report, cost and commercial plans processes.
  • Share best practice with others.
  • Agree client final accounts.
  • Value sub-contractors applications and issue payment notices in accordance with agreed terms.
  • Issue sub-contract instructions and value variations.
  • Agree sub-contract accounts.
  • Ensure all relevant notices are issued in accordance with the contract conditions and respond to the same, with clients and sub-contractors.
  • Have a good understanding of the processes and procedures that we are working within and to assist in their development and improvement.
