Tooling & Returns Controller

 

Description – Elekta has adopted a Merge-in-Transit and manufacture at site methodology for large and complex products which gives significant benefits to the business and the environment. This methodology extends the production process through to the installation of the product at the end user site. In practice this means that subsystem modules and components (purchase levels) are manufactured, verified or validated within Elekta's supply base prior to a final Production / Installation stage that takes place at the customer location.

 

The role of the Tooling & Returns Controller can be split into two area’s of responsibility. Firstly, to manage the end to end process of tooling including the maintaining the engineering bill of materials, goods movements and associated compliance requirements in line with the associated project plan in the most optimal cost effective way.

 

Secondly, to act as a key stakeholder/owner in the Elekta FRACAS  (Failure Reporting Analysis, and Corrective Action System) returns process to drive product improvement or cost recovery initiatives through the facilitation of the retrieval of Unity material from the field and subsequent disposition.

  • Actively manage cost base for tooling through optimizations of:
    • Cost Avoidance (ATA Carnet)
    • Calibration Services
    • Sourcing of replacement tools
    • Freight (including Duties/Taxes)
  • Process Improvement
  • Returns Management
  • FRACAS
  • Cost Management
  • Process Improvement

Authorities –

  • Acquisition of Tooling and Calibration Services
  • Material Disposition through Scrapping or Rework

Relevant Knowledge, skills and competencies – Core Competencies:

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience of working within Operations with good understanding of Manufacturing, Purchasing and Logistics.
  • IT Competent with MS Office tools for presentation and analysis.
  • Experience in the use of Quality Management & MRP systems
  • Ability to work unsupervised under own initiative.
  • Dynamic and willingness to learn and open to new ideas.
  • Applies Expertise – Expert knowledgeable, skill full, professional, up to date
  • Good administrative and communicator with well developed data analysis skills.
  • Experience of an engineering environment incorporating technical inspection and Supply Quality Assurance will be an advantage.
