About us
Approved by the Department for Education in 2014, the University of Brighton Academies Trust is led by a small team of senior managers who have been involved in the success of the Hastings Academies Trust, and who work alongside colleagues from the university's School of Education. We work in partnership with our academies, providing challenge and support, to ensure that the solutions and improvements proposed are right for the pupils, staff and community involved.
When a school decides they would like to work with us, our starting point is always their existing strengths. From there we can start the journey to make long-term improvements. Our approach is collaborative not prescriptive, so we share accountability for improvement with our academies. We work in partnership to deliver our quality framework: a set of principles and procedures for school improvement. We value our staff and believe well qualified, motivated staff are vital to the success of our academies.
Pupils benefit from a curriculum developed specifically for their academy. Each academy's curriculum is designed to engage all their pupils and to provide relevant practical experiences based on our research about how children learn best. This may result in a wider choice of subjects, more creative use of arts and drama or teaching that utilises the local environment. Initiatives such as one-to-one support tuition, to small group work, and catch-up programmes inside and outside of school are designed to make sure that no child is left behind.
