Kangaroos Mid Sussex

Kangaroos is a small charity based in Haywards Heath that runs a range of recreational and leisure activities in Mid Sussex for children and young people aged from 6 to over 30. All our members have learning disabilities and many have additional behavioural, physical or sensory problems, as well as an increasing number with Autism and epilepsy. Kangaroos was established by a group of parents in 1993 and began with a Saturday Club in January 1994 which aimed to provide activities suited to their children’s special requirements.Kangaroos now run upwards of 8 activity programmes, including Holiday clubs, youth clubs and after school sports clubs which provide around 150 young people with the care and support needed so that they can have a fun, sociable and worthwhile experience with their peers. Our sessions are run by experienced and qualified staff with the support of volunteers from local schools and colleges. We are able to heavily subsidise our fees to parents by securing funds from other sources such as WSCC, the Big Lottery, donation, grants and general fundraising activities.
