Salary Negotiable, Burgess Hill, Monday to Friday, 8am -5pm / 12.30pm finish on Fridays, Permanent, 20 days annual leave + bank holidays. Free parking. Christmas shutdown.

The Role

An excellent opportunity for a Buyer to join a well-established manufacturing business based in Burgess Hill. The Buyer will play a key role within the procurement function, reporting into the wider operations team and taking responsibility for supplier management, purchasing activities and stock availability. The successful Buyer will help ensure materials are sourced competitively and delivered on time to support production requirements.

  • Managing all aspects of the purchasing and buying function.
  • Sourcing new suppliers and negotiating pricing, terms and agreements.
  • Raising and managing purchase orders.
  • Ensuring shipments arrive in line with business requirements.
  • Developing purchasing strategies to achieve the best overall value.
  • Monitoring stock levels and material availability.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships.
  • Resolving supplier delivery issues and invoice discrepancies.
  • Tracking and reviewing supplier performance.
  • Supporting continuous improvement within the procurement process.

Requirements

The successful Buyer will have strong organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to work effectively within a team environment. Previous purchasing or procurement experience is highly desirable, ideally within a manufacturing environment. Experience of supplier negotiation, stock management and purchase order processing is highly desirable. The ability to prioritise workloads, work under pressure and adapt to changing business needs is also highly desirable. Strong communication skills and the ability to build productive supplier relationships will be beneficial for this Buyer position.

This role could suit someone who has worked as Purchasing Coordinator, Procurement Officer or Purchasing Executive.
