Reed Accountancy are currently assisting an established client who is currently seeking an immediately available experienced Credit Controller to join our finance team. This role involves managing debtor ledgers across multiple entities, ensuring efficient credit control and maintaining strong relationships with customers to facilitate prompt payments.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Manage debtors' ledgers across multiple entities, including communication with suppliers/customers regarding payments and credit control duties.
  • Focus on the recovery of aged debt and communicate current debt status along with plans to reduce overall debt.
  • Build and maintain relationships with customers to ensure prompt settlement of monies owed.
  • Partner with internal teams to manage customer relationships and foster a collaborative culture.
  • Ensure that new and authorised supplier/customer accounts are opened within the accounts ledger, and that credit & payment terms reflect those agreed with the supplier/customer.
  • Handle invoice raising and credit note management, including submission of invoices via customer invoicing portals.
  • Perform general finance functions such as resolving supplier/customer queries, matching payments to invoices, assisting in recording and analysing inventory data, vendor payments, accounts payable/receivable balances, and shipment activities.
  • Manage communications via team email inbox and handle banking and cash management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience managing a debtors ledger and aged debt recovery, with demonstrable knowledge of best recovery practices.
  • High level of confidence in contacting customers directly to discuss late payments and potential resolutions.
  • Experience in accounts receivable is essential; experience in accounts payable is beneficial.
  • Understanding and appreciation of basic sales principles.
  • Excellent attention to detail, quality, and accuracy.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team within a larger organisation.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Business Central ERP would be highly advantageous.
