Job Title: Full-Time English Teacher
Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex
Start Date: ASAP
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent (subject to probation)
Salary: MPS/UPS (dependent on experience)

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join our supportive and forward-thinking secondary school in Eastbourne. This is a full-time position starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will inspire and motivate students across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable), delivering engaging and high-quality English lessons.

This is an excellent opportunity for both experienced teachers and ECTs who are passionate about raising attainment and fostering a love of English language and literature.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured English lessons in line with the national curriculum

  • Teach English Language and English Literature at KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Monitor, assess, and report on student progress

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

  • Contribute to curriculum development within the English department

  • Participate in parents evenings, staff meetings, and school events

  • Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • A degree in English or a related subject

  • Strong classroom management skills

  • A commitment to high standards of teaching and learning

  • The ability to inspire and motivate students of all abilities

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
