Have you a passion for development in support and rehabilitation? Whatever your background, join our team and help someone reach their full potential and live life to the max.

On behalf of our client, Head First is recruiting a support worker to provide support to a 21-year-old young woman with an acquired brain injury.

Currently living at home with her mum, two brothers, and a variety of pets. The client has access to an annexe within the grounds of the property where she is working on building her independent living skills with her Support Worker team. There is already an established support team in place, including a team leader, and we are now looking for someone to complement the team, covering the outstanding hours, ideally with some flexibility.

Your role will enable our client to live in the community, maximising her rehabilitation potential, improving her quality of life and achieve desired goals. The client undertakes regular therapy sessions as well as enjoying hobbies such as photography, shopping, trips to Starbucks and volunteers regularly in a school. The client also requires support to navigate and facilitate their relationships with others.

You will become part of a trusted team that supports our client to build confidence, develop her skills, and enjoy day-to-day life. She values spending time with friendly, approachable people who encourage her strengths and achievements. She enjoys social outings, shopping, chatting, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Our client benefits from support with motivation, planning and initiating activities. A key part of this role is encouraging and supporting her to engage in her rehabilitation programme, participate in meaningful activities, and maintain her daily routine. At times, she may experience anxiety when out in the community and can become preoccupied with social interactions. During these occasions, she benefits from support provided in a calm, patient and understanding manner by someone who can offer reassurance and encouragement.

This is a fantastic opportunity to become part of a new team being put in place to support and develop the next stage of our client s journey, where no two days are the same.

What does the role offer you?

  • An extensive induction and training programme offering support and guidance every step of the way.
  • Regular supervision/appraisal with your case manager and ongoing support from the team leader, wider team and therapists.
  • To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • A supportive and friendly family, who are grateful for all the support they receive.
  • Extensive training opportunities.

What are we looking for?

  • Passion and commitment for the role, with an opportunity to get to know our client and make a difference to her daily living.
  • The ability to bring your own strengths and interests to the team.
  • Flexibility and availability to provide cover for absences on a bi-weekly rota, including sleeping overnight and weekend shifts.
  • Previous experience would be an advantage, however, applicants with no experience but a willingness to learn will be considered.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, as part of a team.
  • Enthusiasm to support client s participation in social, leisure, and rehabilitation activities in a variety of fun settings.
  • Assist in reaching the clients specific goals as instructed and trained by the therapy team.
  • Have up to date DBS at enhanced level paid for by the employer if you need to apply.
  • A driver with a full UK driving licence.
