Excellent contract role for a Payroll Team Leader based in Chichester

Your new company
Our Client is seeking an experienced Payroll Team Leader to oversee the delivery of a high quality, accurate and compliant payroll service. This is a great opportunity for a senior payroll professional who enjoys leading people, improving processes and ensuring exceptional service standards.
Your new role
As Payroll Team Leader, you'll take charge of a small, high performing payroll team while overseeing end to end payroll operations in a fast paced, high volume, multi contract environment. You'll ensure full statutory compliance and the absolute accuracy of all payroll outputs, while maintaining strong payroll controls, reconciliations and audit readiness. With a continuous improvement mindset, you'll drive process enhancements and support ongoing system developments, acting as the key escalation point for complex payroll queries and helping shape the best in class payroll function.

What you'll need to succeed
We're looking for a confident and experienced payroll professional who brings significant expertise from a senior payroll role, ideally with team leadership or supervisory experience. You'll have a proven track record running end to end UK payroll in a complex or high volume environment, supported by an excellent working knowledge of current payroll legislation, statutory payments, pensions and HMRC requirements. You'll be adept at overseeing payroll controls, reconciliations and reporting, with a strong understanding of payroll systems and the confidence to support upgrades or process changes. CIPP qualification (or progression toward it) is desirable, but equivalent experience is equally valued. To thrive in this role, you'll demonstrate solid leadership capability with a history of coaching, motivating and developing team members, along with the confidence to handle escalations, resolve complex queries and continually improve service delivery-all underpinned by exceptional numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
What you'll get in return
You have the opportunity to get involved in a great team and working environment, gaining valuable experience and adding value to a great organisation.
