Great journeys happen at London Gatwick. Where will your career take you?

The buzz, the energy, the sheer magic of travel… You can feel it in the air all around you. Here, you'll be part of an energetic team and a vibrant community. We can help you thrive in a career that's a world away from the everyday.

This role takes an office-first hybrid approach here at London Gatwick, with three days a week in the office and two days remote, managed around the needs of the business.

What is the role?

As Programme Manager at London Gatwick, you will play a key role in supporting the airport's journey towards achieving Net Zero emissions by 2030. This ambitious commitment, supported by our shareholders and embraced across the business, reflects London Gatwick's dedication to building a more sustainable future for aviation.

This is an exciting and varied programme of work, offering the opportunity to lead a broad range of interconnected engineering and infrastructure projects. You will oversee initiatives focused on decarbonising the campus, reducing water and energy consumption, and developing infrastructure to support electric vehicles—all while delivering projects within a live and operational airport environment.

You will lead the overall programme, surrounded by knowledgeable people, all focused on delivering our Net Zero goal. You'll be joining an innovative team, encouraged to think outside the box, trusted to deliver complex projects through problem solving, innovation and supporting one another. Whether you are looking for a move to client side or are ready for a new challenge, we want to hear from you.

We're looking for someone who is flexible and adaptable and who enjoys working across different areas as priorities evolve. While this role is for the Sustainability programme, you'll also be open to supporting and contributing to other programmes.

What will you do?

Reporting to the Capital Programmes Director, you'll play a key role, leading and engaging a high-performing programme team to deliver the Sustainability programme through procurement, delivery, handover and transition into operations for the multiple projects in the programme.

Other duties include:

  • Handling the technical, financial, and commercial aspects of the programme. You'll expertly make sure that the various activities are planned, well-coordinated and work seamlessly together to meet their objectives and the programme objectives overall.
  • Continuously developing and upholding world class health, safety, and environmental standards across the programme and its contractors. We aim to achieve health, safety and environmental excellence.
  • Uncovering and finding solutions to challenges and risks throughout the programme, highlighting these to contractors, and making sure project timelines stay on track and the airport continues to operate smoothly without disruptions.
  • Helping the programme team grow by setting standards, engaging, inspiring and motivating team members. You'll be excited about helping talented individuals reach their potential.

Do you have what we're looking for?

The live environment at London Gatwick requires all our teams to have a flexible and adaptable approach, with problem solving skills and an innovative outlook. You'll have the opportunity to be involved in setting the strategic direction of projects, as well as the opportunity to take the lead on your own projects from inception to completion. In addition, this role requires:

  • Proven experience as a Programme Manager or Senior Project Manager, delivering complex, multi-year programmes and projects within the construction or infrastructure sectors, typically valued in excess of £50 million.
  • Demonstrable experience leading and managing teams of up to 20–30 people.
  • Strong experience managing external suppliers, contractors and delivery partners.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to a wide range of stakeholders, including Board-level audiences.
  • Expert stakeholder management skills, with a proven ability to navigate complex environments and balance competing or conflicting stakeholder priorities.

What's in it for you?

We value our people and reward every employee fairly with a highly competitive package, enhanced by a discretionary annual bonus, free staff parking, discounted rail travel to work, share matching scheme and more.
