Location: Lancing, West Sussex
Salary: MPS/UPS + SEN Allowance (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent
Start Date: February 2026

About the Role

We are seeking a passionate, resilient, and committed SEMH Secondary Teacher to join a dedicated team. You will work with students aged who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, supporting them to re-engage with learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

This role is ideal for a teacher who believes in trauma-informed practice, restorative approaches, and the power of strong relationships to transform lives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons tailored to individual SEMH needs
  • Create a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Build positive relationships with pupils to promote emotional regulation and engagement
  • Implement behaviour support plans and contribute to EHCP targets
  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, pastoral staff, and external agencies
  • Monitor progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
  • Maintain high safeguarding and professional standards at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • QTS (ECTs welcome to apply!)
  • Experience working with SEMH, SEND, or challenging behaviour (school-based or alternative provision)
  • Strong behaviour management skills with a nurturing, consistent approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A reflective, solution-focused mindset
  • Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
