The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior AI Automation Engineer to join a growing Intelligent Automation and Process Engineering function within a major UK organisation.
This is a hands-on senior technical role for an experienced automation engineer who can take ownership of solutions from initial discovery and estimation through to design, development, testing and deployment.
You'll work across Microsoft Power Platform, Power Automate, Microsoft Copilot and Azure, while helping establish technical standards and best practice across the wider automation capability.
As a senior member of the team, you'll provide technical leadership through code reviews, estimation, solution design and mentoring, ensuring solutions are secure, scalable, maintainable and fit for purpose.
What You'll Be Doing
- Take technical ownership of automation projects from discovery through to production.
- Design and develop complex AI-powered automation solutions across Microsoft 365.
- Translate business requirements into robust technical solutions and architectures.
- Produce technical estimates, delivery plans and effort assessments.
- Conduct code and solution reviews, ensuring development meets agreed standards.
- Build workflows, applications and integrations using Power Platform.
- Develop solutions using Power Automate, Power Apps and Power Pages.
- Leverage Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Agents and Copilot Studio to deliver intelligent automation.
- Design secure, scalable and supportable solutions across the Microsoft ecosystem.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide technical guidance to other engineers.
- Establish and promote standards around development, testing, documentation and deployment.
- Mentor and support junior and mid-level engineers.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
- Strong commercial experience developing automation solutions within Microsoft 365.
- Extensive hands-on experience with Power Automate, including Cloud and/or Desktop.
- Strong experience with Power Apps and Power Pages.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Agents or Copilot Studio.
- Strong understanding of workflow design, automation architecture and system integration.
- Experience conducting code reviews and maintaining development standards.
- Experience producing technical estimates and delivery plans.
- Strong understanding of testing, CI/CD, version control and technical documentation.
- Good understanding of security and governance, including DLP, RBAC and identity management.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Please note: This role is focused on Microsoft 365 and Power Platform automation rather than Dynamics 365.
Desirable Experience
- Microsoft Power Platform certifications such as PL-200 or PL-400.
- Azure certifications such as AZ-900, AI-900 or AZ-204.
- Experience with API-led integration, REST APIs or event-driven architecture.
- Experience with Alteryx or other data-driven automation technologies.
- Exposure to ServiceNow, SAP or GIS.
- Experience establishing automation development standards, governance or technical frameworks.
